On a personal note:
- I worked with some very nice hard-working Romanian mechanics in Saudi Arabia and they complained a lot about the high level of corruption in their country.
- In Poland, the CBA anti-corruption agency (https://cba.gov.pl/en) was formed to tackle corruption and it had a remarkable effect. Doctors, for example, were accustomed to taking bribes but became too scared to continue the practice. Romania needs something similar in my view.
Romania is 59th in the world and 26th in the European Union, according to this year’s edition of the Corruption Perception Index compiled by Transparency International.
Of the EU countries, only Hungary and Bulgaria are behind Romania in this ranking. Romania has maintained the same score as last year, namely 48.
